Finally ‰ÛÓ A Podcast about the Superiority of Written Content

by admin

I‰Ûªm told there is this debate between audio content and written content. And it‰Ûªs an acrimonious debate. So Pamela ‰ÛÏBattle Axe‰Û Wilson decided to address the issue head on.
Copyblogger FM is brought to you by the Rainmaker Platform, the complete solution for content marketers and online entrepreneurs. Find out more and take a free 14-day test drive at rainmaker.fm/platform.
She did it in an article called ‰ÛÏIs Podcasting Replacing Written Content Marketing?‰Û And it‰Ûªs a contentious little article.
Seeing that Ms. Wilson kicked the hornet‰Ûªs nest with a lead foot, Jerod and I decided to get down to the truth of the matter. To ultimately decide which is better (I think we all know the answer to that).
In this 32-minute episode you‰Ûªll discover:

  • Why Copyblogger Media had to bet big on podcasting
  • The circumstances that spur some of the best written articles
  • Jerod‰Ûªs bizarre super power
  • Things you can do with audio content that can‰Ûªt be done with written (and vice versa)
  • When audio content just won‰Ûªt do
  • How learning styles and personal preferences will affect which kind of content you create
  • How a podcast can take you on a journey
  • A lesson about reacting to criticism
  • And more!

Digital Strategy and Planning with @DaveChaffey ‰ÛÒ INTERNET MARKETING PODCAST #307

by admin

Today we are joined by Dr Dave Chaffey; he is the author and publisher of Smartinsights.com.åÊ Dave had been has worked within digital marketing for a number of years, at the time when he started, digital marketing was called internet marketing.åÊ He ran his first workshop in 1997 at the charted institute of marketing in the UK, called Strategic Internet Marketing. Through doing these talks, there wasn‰Ûªt much books to refer to back then, so this inspired him to turn his workshops into books, for people to learn about internet marketing.
Dave was asked: ‰ÛÏwhy don‰Ûªt businesses have a solid strategy?‰Û Dave agreed and didn‰Ûªt understand why there is a lack of digital strategy because when he asks the people that attend his digital strategy workshop, the reason why they should have one and they all give relevant useful points and resources. However, after conducting research with UBM, they found that 50% of business, did not have any digital strategy but they were doing digital strategy.
He states that there is a common misconception when writing up a strategy, especially within small business, as many they think it has to be a 30 page report, when it should truly be about the focus. For the member resources at Smartinsights it should be 1 to 2 pages of prioritising these activities. Dave mentions a strategy guide, which Smartinsights has developed, called ‰Û÷race framework‰Ûª. He mentions how it will allow businesses to think through their capabilities and where they need to focus, as it‰Ûªs across the whole customer life cycle. The frame work helps people to think about their strategies.

Why Content Creators Should Kiss Their Programmers

by admin

Some would say it‰Ûªs the age of the digital content creator. That this is their time to rise up and conquer. And there‰Ûªs a lot of evidence that‰Ûªs exactly what they are doing.
Copyblogger FM is brought to you by the Rainmaker Platform, the complete solution for content marketers and online entrepreneurs. Find out more and take a free 14-day test drive at rainmaker.fm/platform.
In this episode of the Lede, Pamela ‰ÛÏBattle Axe‰Û Wilson joins us one more time for this award-winning series (listen to understand what I mean) to help Jerod Morris put Demian Farnworth in the hot seat.
A couple weeks ago Demian wrote an article called ‰ÛÏThe Unstoppable Rise of the Digital Content Creator.‰Û While it‰Ûªs loaded with some of the best writing this side of Saturn, what can‰Ûªt be missed is Demian‰Ûªs central premise: programmers and engineers have paved the road digital content marketers tread.
Without these professionals, the modern-day content creator would still be forced to develop coding chops or hire someone to do it for them. Instead, we live in a world where it‰Ûªs easy to create and share digital content online.
But there are still a lot of unanswered questions.
In this 30-minute episode we‰Ûªll answer the following questions:

  • Is there anything to the claim that digital content creators are unstoppable? Or is Demian just blowing smoke?
  • Could it be possible we are in a digital content bubble?
  • What‰Ûªs the true value of Joe Pulizzi‰Ûªs orange suits?
  • Is there really an audience for every idea ‰ÛÓ even one about drinking your own urine for health reasons?
  • Where is the proof that demand for content is going up?
  • Is Pamela Wilson really happy living in Nashville?
  • And so much more!

by admin

Today we are joined by Rebecca Jones MD at Objectsource, which is a leading Magento developing agency; Rebecca has been head of director level for many different companies such as lastminute.com, ocardo.com and NatWest. Rebecca started Objectsource 4-5 years ago. We asked her: what was the main thrust of Objectsource? åÊShe simply states that it is to ‰Û÷design, build and host Magento websites.‰Ûª
We asked her, from a business perspective, what are the things that make Magento a good eCommerce platform? She enthusiastically responds that ‰Û÷First and foremost it is free, which means that you can spend all your budget on customising and getting it to what you want it to be for your business.‰Ûª
She further argues that ‰ÛÏmaking sure your business can attract the right customers and making sure that your site is search-engine-friendly, which makes it a good eCommerce site. She further adds that Magento already allows you to do that as templates are already set up. Don‰Ûªt need to worry about the coding around it.‰Û
Rebecca also indicates that ‰ÛÒ ‰ÛÏonce you‰Ûªve attracted your customers you need to make sure you try and convert them, which is based on the user experience and the journey they have when they get to the website. Magento already has setup the category pages and the product pages. Making sure that it is swift and easy, so it can go straight into the basket. With Magento converting customers are easy, as long as you have good user journey.‰Û
She explains that Magento is essentially a platform as it has all the features and the functionality that you would want of a good ecommerce site.
Rebecca clarifies that Magento offers a vibrant developer community due to being an open source platform.
How easy is it to use SEO and optimise keywords strategies, is it straight forward? Rebecca with confidence explains that ‰Û÷yes it is straightforward as Magento has an easy to use admin panel, where you don‰Ûªt need any technical knowledge at all.
